On 17 May, Leliani hosted writer Dato Turashvili for a public lecture titled „The History of the First Republic“.
During the talk, the guest spoke about the lesser-known stories of Georgia’s familiar past and the heroes and anti-heroes of freedom:
• How did Georgia gain independence in 1918 and what was the foundation of its statehood at that time?
• What reforms did the leaders manage to implement and why should we take pride in 26 May as a historic date?
• What mistakes did the Georgian Social Democrats make and could Georgia’s independence have been preserved in 1921, when Soviet Russia invaded the young free republic?
The lecture was attended by many guests alongside the residents of the home.
At Leliani residential care home for the elderly, educational and cultural activities are held regularly. The events are open to anyone who wishes to attend.
